Exploring the Practice with Erick Thuss

Level II-IV Workshops

Asana & Pranayama

In these workshops, students will be guided through a range of asana layered in such a way as to encourage their own unique expansion inward.  Erick will lay the groundwork to help increase students’ connection to the body as the choice vehicle for self-exploration and absorption.

Each session will start with an asana class, followed by a short 15-20 minute break.  After the break, the workshop  will resume for a pranayama class.

An Iyengar Yoga Intensive

PART 2

This weekend workshop will clarify and deepen your understanding of asana practice as a dynamic experiential learning process, that offers relevant applications for daily living, while furthering us along the path of Yoga. Specific attention will be placed on helping each person to develop the values and skills necessary to progressively deepen in the practice. We will explore a range of classic poses and variations, and how to gain access to the particular benefits that each pose offers. Key elements of the Iyengar Yoga method will be presented and refined including: action, extension, support and balance.

This workshop will be of benefit to all levels of practitioners and teachers. Beginners are welcome.

David Sirgany has been an ardent practioner of Iyengar Yoga and of meditation, for more than thirty years. His depth and passion for these subjects shines forth brightly in his teaching. Brian Hogencamp is a yoga practitioner and Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT). He has devoted his life to sharing the art, science, and philosophy of yoga according to the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar. He as taught full-time since 2004 and travels annually to RIMYI in Pune, India to study with the Iyengar family. With Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra as philosophical foundation, the writings of B.K.S., Geeta, and Prashant Iyengar provide structure to his textual study, and insight to his practice. As yoga is an experiential subject, he believes the distance between what is taught and what is learned can only be illumined by one’s own practice. Consistent, dedicated practice continues to reveal to him the universality and completeness of the Iyengar approach to yoga. Drawing from his evolving experience and with deep gratitude for the teachings received, he is eager to share the light yoga can bring.
